Man shot in broad daylight on NYC subway

A 48-year-old man died after being shot in the chest on the New York City subway on Sunday morning.

The victim was sitting in the last carriage when an individual opened fire, before disembarking at the next station and fleeing.

The event happened around 11:42 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders transported the victim to hospital where the man succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not been revealed at this time.

The suspect is still wanted by authorities. It would be a burly man with dark skin and a beard. He would be dressed in a dark colored sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and white shoes.

Although other people were in the car, the victim was the only person injured.

Witnesses told officers the suspect was not provoked and simply pulled out his gun and opened fire as the subway crossed the Manhattan Bridge.

There was reportedly no altercation between the two men prior to the incident.
