Multiple German media, including Bild, write about the death of the well-known fitness influencer. On Instagram he has more than 170,000 followers under the name ‘Sammy Baker’.
His page is filled with condolences. His father also allows himself hear from themselves on Facebook.
‘My son was murdered’
According to the father, Samuel was in Amsterdam to celebrate his 23-year-old birthday and was with friends who reported him missing. The father further writes that “the Amsterdam police killed his son.”
On Thursday, agents shot the confused German down. He was standing in a garden with a knife in his hands, threatening to harm himself. He was difficult to approach and in a confused state.

Then the man walked up to the officers. They tried to arrest him, but the man put one of the officers in his vest. On that the police shot three timesr, show fierce images of AT5.
On the spot, officers resuscitated the man, but the man died of his injuries.

Didn’t act too quickly?
Police commissioner Frank Paauw is against Parool responded to the event. The man probably would have been alive if the officers had had an electric shock weapon, he said.
Frank Paauw: “Both the officers in question and myself agree. In this case, an electric shock weapon would have made the difference between life and death.”
Elnathan Prinsen, chairman of the Dutch Psychiatric Association, wonders whether the police officers acted too quickly. Prinsen, who was himself a crisis psychiatrist, wonders whether the risk assessment and the actions used by the officers are appropriate.
“The key question is: how do you deal with the risk? In such circumstances it works to gather expertise and information.”

Why so flown in?
Prinsen continues: “Apparently his friends had already reported him missing and reported that he was walking alone and unstable through the city. That information could certainly have helped with the best approach.”
By obtaining more information, you will know better whether there really is an acute danger and that can help to approach confused people in the best way, the crisis psychiatrist concludes.
