Man Shot Dead in Nightclub Near Angers, France: Homicide Investigation Opened

A man was shot dead on Sunday morning in a nightclub in Saint-Martin-du-Fouilloux, near Angers, the gendarmerie said, confirming information the local newspaper West France.

The shooter killed “the man of about 30 years with a single shot in the nightclub around 5:30 a.m.” before fleeing in a vehicle. Late Sunday afternoon, the suspect was still being sought.

An open homicide investigation

Angers prosecutor Eric Bouillard said Sunday morning that he would “not communicate on this case which begins”. Ouest France indicates that a judicial investigation for homicide has been opened.

Reached by the newspaper, the mayor of the town indicated that one of the deputies went there during the day.
