Namur police used a firearm after chasing a vehicle after suspicious acts. One of the occupants of the car died.
At around 4 a.m. on Friday morning, the Namur police chased a vehicle from the city center, after spotting suspicious acts. “This was followed by a chase in which the police used a firearm. One person was affected and died, confirms Charlotte Fosseur, press magistrate at the Namur prosecution. ”The victim is a 26-year-old man. Another person in the fleeing vehicle surrendered and was released. The facts started on the road to Gembloux, at the entrance to Saint-Servais, where a police patrol wanted to carry out a check on two people, one on the sidewalk, the other in a vehicle. He then fled. Several police vehicles chased him to Beez, near the Sagrex quarry. Shots were fired: “We don’t know the precise circumstances at this stage,” says Charlotte Fosseur. The case was investigated and the federal judicial police in Namur responsible for the investigation.
