The shooting took place at the De Horrebieter camping site in Drenthe. The victim was seriously injured, assistance was no longer of any use.
The police took several units to the scene of the shooting and a police helicopter flew over the area for some time.

The police are still in the dark about the cause of the shooting. Journalist Bas van Sluis of the Dagblad van het Noorden says he has heard from sources that the man was shot at close range several times. It may have been a settlement in the criminal circuit.
