It was Saturday 21 January that the incident took place in Sumner county, in the state of Kansas, USA.
The deceased’s name has not been released.
Fatal accident
According to the sheriff’s office in Sumner, the man must have been sitting in the passenger seat of his pickup, as the man’s dog accidentally stepped on the shotgun that was in the back seat.
The shotgun fired a shot, which went straight into the back of the grown man.
– We received an emergency call about the accident, and responding units were on the scene after a few minutes, the Sumner Sheriff’s Office informs Kansas local newspaper, KAKE.
Headache was brain tumor
The sheriff’s office says that they started cardiopulmonary resuscitation immediately, but that the man’s life could not be saved. He died at the scene from the gunshot wounds.
Officers from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks were also on the scene, writes the American the news channel 12 news.

After KAKE shared the news on his Facebook page, several readers took to the comments section to criticize the now-deceased man:

The criticism and hateful comments caused a close friend of the deceased to react. According to KAKE, the friend himself has answered the following in the comment field:
“To all the comedians and gun experts here: This man was one of my best friends. Their comments are full of hate. I know the man’s family very well, and words cannot describe how much their hearts ache right now. Shame on you!”
