Man shot and injured in Atwater tube

A 38-year-old man was shot and injured Sunday night at the Atwater subway station in Montreal.

According to initial information, the man was injured after an altercation broke out between a dozen people, around 7 pm, inside the metro station, on the corner of boulevard de Maisonneuve and rue Atwater: «At a certain point An explosion was heard and people went missing,” explained Raphaël Bergeron, spokesman for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The victim went to the shops on Place Alexis Nihon before being treated by the police and ambulance.

The 38-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening upper body injuries. No suspects have yet been identified, the SPVM added. The altercation remains unknown, it was said.
