A man was seriously injured by an explosion at a barbecue in Baarlo on Tuesday evening. He was taken to hospital with severe burns.
Another man suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics, police said.
Initially, the police spoke of three injured, but it turned out to be two. An air ambulance was deployed to provide medical assistance.
The victim was seriously injured when trying to light the charcoal barbecue. According to the police, he tried that “with a volatile substance”, which caused the device to explode.
The accident happened around 8.30 pm at a holiday park on the Napoleonsbaan near the Limburg village.
