Man Sentenced to Prison for Flat Tires: Impact on Victims and Their Lives

On the morning of December 6, 2022, the owners of 42 vehicles, parked in the streets around the Châtelet bridge, in the city center, had the unpleasant surprise of discovering their flat tires.

Heard by videoconference, from the prison where he is being held for the illegal transport of firearms, Maxime Plisson appears face closed, arms crossed. He expresses few regrets, apart from a laconic “sorry for the victims”, dropped without conviction. No justification either. “I don’t know why I did that. I was drunk… A stroke of madness. »

The defendant acts here his ninth mention in the criminal record, since 2016. Stunning, burglary, damage to property, carrying knives, violence… Beside, the flat tires seem very derisory.

The victims themselves suffered. “Some were unable to give Christmas presents to their children because they had to replace their four tires,” points out the judge. Facing her, a disabled man, crutch in hand, says he had to walk to work, by -4 degrees. Thirty lives impacted, not counting their direct entourage: spouses, children…

One year in prison and several thousand euros in fines

In all, the victims are asking for nearly 10,000 euros for repairs to their vehicles. And around 3,000 euros for non-pecuniary damage, in particular justified by absences or delays at work.

Maxime Plisson is sentenced to one year’s imprisonment with a committal order. Requests for financial reparations, supported by invoices from mechanics, repair shops, or taxi companies, were respected on the whole.
