The facts had occurred on a Sunday evening, at the beginning of December 2022, after a “family and friendly meeting” with “a lot of alcohol”.
This 30-year-old had “not understood” why his new companion – with whom he had then been in a relationship for eight months – had walked directly home, on this small country road, when it was “at 3.5 km” of walking.
He hits his girlfriend in the car
This resident of Divatte-sur-Loire, a commune in the Nantes vineyards, had therefore joined her by car and had “insisted” on her getting on board alongside him, before “blocking her against a low wall” and ” hit”.
He was not unaware, however, that she was suffering from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare genetic disease which complicates the calcification of the bones.
“Screaming in pain”, she had “asked him to call the emergency services”, but the defendant had “not taken the measure” of this “big bump”.
Finally, at the complainant’s insistence, he took her to the hospital: she will be hospitalized for a week and will be prescribed six months off work.
“A macho son-in-law” according to the mother-in-law
Described as an “impulsive” and “jealous” companion, this man who can be “very nice as well as very naughty”, according to his companion, had above all been described as a “patriarchal” son-in-law according to his mother-in-law. The couple “kept arguing” that day.

The young woman had initially not told her relatives that her companion had run over her, but had finally decided to separate from him.
During his trial, the defendant denied any “willful violence”.
He refuted any “battle” just before, and “didn’t see” it happen in his rear view mirror when he just wanted to “park”.
He simply “miscalculated the distances”, he summed up.
The man also certified that the detection radar of his car, a BMW, does not work when he is driving forward – a point contradicted by the gendarmes.
The man who works in the building was in any case “in full possession of [ses] means” to drive that evening – although he drank “two aperitifs” and “three-four glasses of white wine” – because he “was working the next day”.
Six months later, after-effects
“I was banging on the bonnet, yelling at him to back off because I was in pain… I yelled from start to finish, but he was telling me, ‘You have a big sprain, stop adding to it’”, s’ remembered for his part the victim, who came on crutches to the bar.
“He then decided to take caregiver leave, but it was complicated to get along afterwards…”
“At the start, I decided to protect him and lie to my relatives: I suspected that it was going to be complicated,” added the young woman.
But the separation with this man who “pirated [ses] social networks and SMS” was inevitable.
He had “wished for her to catch AIDS” because he “thought that with a broken leg I was doing things with other boys”, sighed this woman who “is just starting to be able to take care of herself” again. her two children born from a previous union.
She had a second knee on her left leg, the pain was paroxysmal… I don’t know how she managed not to pass out.
The victim’s lawyer
“It’s not an ‘accident’: the gentleman ran over her with his big car because she refused to ride with him… It’s confusing in its wickedness and cruelty. »
Tentative d’homicide
The public prosecutor had also confirmed that the file had initially been opened to the criminal for “attempted homicide by spouse”.
It is “not an accident”, she repeated during the hearing.
The Nantes Criminal Court finally aligned itself with the requisitions of the prosecution.
He declared the boy guilty of this “willful violence” in view of the “configuration of the premises” and his own statements in police custody although he was “not assisted by a lawyer”, lamented the defense attorney.
18 months in prison and confiscated BMW
Until then unknown to justice, the man was sentenced to eighteen months in prison with probation.
For two years, he will be prohibited from recontacting his ex-companion and from coming to her house. He will also have to complete an awareness course on domestic violence and will be prohibited from possessing a weapon. His BMW was mostly confiscated.
On the civil level, he will have to pay a first provision of 3,000 € in damages to his ex-spouse before the final amount is stopped on October 4, 2024.
