After an agreement with the prosecutor’s office, a man who drove for the second time after using narcotic substances goes to prison for 2 years. 40-year-old D.M. was also sentenced to BGN 500, as well as remaining without a driver’s license for 2 years, announced the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office.
On September 10, 2022 at noon D.M. his Mercedes on Cherni Vrah Blvd. in Sofia after using amphetamine, methamphetamine and morphine, the prosecutor’s office explains. This was established through a forensic chemical-toxicological examination. In addition, the car that DM was driving had registration plates issued for another car.
A case was opened against the man for both crimes – for driving after the use of drugs, as well as for using foreign license plates. In the course of the investigation, witnesses were interviewed and expert examinations were carried out.
D.M. pleaded guilty in court and was sentenced to 2 years of “imprisonment” under an initial strict regime.
A court-approved settlement is equivalent to a final judgment.
