A 21-year-old driver is involved in an accident involving wild animals. At first he thinks he hit a dog. But things turn out differently.
Winkelhaid – There was a car accident near Nuremberg. A 21-year-old man hit an animal with his car on Autobahn 6. As the Feucht traffic police inspection reported, the young driver remained uninjured in the crash in Middle Franconia near the town of Winkelhaid. However, any help came too late for the animal. It was a wolf. Wolf sightings have also recently increased in northern Germany.
Man runs over “larger animal” on the highway – what was supposed to be a German shepherd turns out to be a wolf
According to the police, on November 8th, the driver on the A6 suddenly noticed that “a larger animal” suddenly jumped onto the road. The animal suddenly ran into the left lane of the motorway near Winkelhaid in the Nürnberger Land district.
As the driver further stated, he was unfortunately no longer able to avoid the four-legged friend. There was a collision between the vehicle and the animal – with fatal consequences for the latter. According to police, the “larger animal” died as a result of the accident. The driver left his vehicle after the accident; at first glance he thought the fatally injured animal was a German Shepherd.
Employees of the responsible highway maintenance department took the suspected accident when clearing the scene Dog take a closer look. And we were pretty sure that it had to be another animal: a wolf.
Not the first wolf to be run over in the region – a similar incident a few days earlier
Therefore, in addition to the police forces, employees of the state office were also informed. They drove to the scene of the accident to inspect the dead animal. It turned out that the highway supervisor’s suspicions were correct. The dead animal was not a German Shepherd – but a wolf.
The state office is now investigating why the animal ran onto the highway. It was not the first case of a wolf being run over in Bavaria. Two days before the accident near Winkelhaid, a wolf was also run over near Passau on November 6th. A hunter later had to put the seriously injured animal out of its suffering. In northern Germany, an animal recently died after a collision with a car. (kh)
