Man rescued from burning house in Almere

The fire brigade in Almere rescued a man from the roof of a burning house on Velserpad in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The man was brought to safety with a cherry picker. He was taken to hospital for a check-up.

The fire was reported just before 11:30 p.m. and soon afterward, flames poured out of the home. The fire brigade drove to the Velserpad with several fire trucks. The fire, which raged on the first floor and attic, was quickly brought under control.

The house is currently uninhabitable, a spokesman for the fire department said. It is not yet clear what caused the fire.
