Man missing at Åndalsnes – searching by helicopter – rbnett.no

In an update on Twitter at 09.40 on Saturday morning, the police ask that residents in the downtown area and Setnesmoen on Åndalsnes check their garages, sheds and the like. The police can be contacted on telephone 02800.

The missing person was last seen on Thursday night.

– We are very worried about him, says operations manager Roar Fylling.

Task leader Kjersti Vestavik informs Rbnett that the man is in his 20s, 1.75 meters tall, has medium blonde hair and a beard and is quite thin.

– He is probably wearing a military green jacket and military green trousers, but it is not entirely certain, says the head of the department.

Searching by helicopter

The search has been going on since Friday night. On Saturday morning, additional resources were obtained to find the missing man.

– Currently, the search is fruitless. We have had personnel on the ground all night and have now deployed a helicopter, says operations manager John Bratland on Saturday morning.

He says that they have a plan for the morning and the day, and that they will make a new plan continuously if the search does not yield results.

– Personnel from the Red Cross have been assigned routes in the city center and at Setnesmoen. In addition, applications are made from the air and along the shoreline, says the operations manager.

50 volunteers and 6 dogs

The search operation started on Friday afternoon, and an application is being made at Åndalsnes and the surrounding areas. Vestavik states that the police crews receive help from 40 people from the Red Cross, as well as 6 dogs and ten crews from the Norwegian Rescue Dogs.

– We continue the search throughout the night with dogs. Then the action is rebuilt tomorrow morning when it gets light, says Vestavik.

Like Fylling, she also says that they are very worried about the man.
