A man has been missing since he knocked overboard from a sailing yacht on the IJsselmeer on Thursday afternoon. Rescue services were unable to find him and therefore transferred the search to the police.
The Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM) reports that the man was hit by a boom boom. Then he disappeared under water for a short time.
After the accident, the other passengers sounded the alarm. Because it was not immediately clear where the hunt was, the Coast Guard called as many units as possible. Two helicopters were dispatched. After the yacht was found, it was towed to Breezanddijk.
About 1 hour from the Breezanddijk, more than four hours were searched for the missing man, before the search was handed over to the police by the Coast Guard at around 6.45 pm.
