Large forces from the police moved out late Monday night to an area in the center of Halden after a person was found dead in an apartment.
The police confirm to NRK that the accused and the deceased are brother and sister. The man was killed inside an apartment. Police believe he was killed with a knife.
The relatives have been notified.
One family member witnessed the murder inside the apartment. According to NRK, the witness is said to have run out onto the veranda and called for help.
The police state that the accused woman admits criminal guilt.
– She is of course terribly difficult. She has given an explanation today, and I describe it as her cooperating well with the police, says the woman’s defender Kristin Morch.
The defender tells NRK that she does not want to say anything about the woman’s motive for the murder.
– The interrogation of her is not finished yet, Morch says.
Has control of suspected murder weapons
The woman in her 40s was arrested on the spot, without drama, on Monday night.
Neither the deceased nor the accused are acquaintances of the police.
Forensic scientists have been working in the apartment until Tuesday night.

It was the emergency medical communication center (AMK) that reported the incident to the police. It must have been the accused woman who herself notified the emergency services.
Shocked neighbors heard cries for help
A neighbor told NRK on Monday night that she heard desperate cries for help.
– I heard screams and cries for help. It sounded like a battle of life and death. A moment later, the police were here. They entered the apartment with shields.
Another eyewitness also told NRK that a person shouted loud and clear for help just before the police arrived.
On Tuesday, the neighborhood in the center of Halden is in shock.
– It is not expected that there will be a murder in little Halden, a woman says to NRK.
