The 50-year-old Shire A. from Eindhoven was sentenced to nine years in prison at the court in Den Bosch on Wednesday. He assaulted two random women in January and March last year and stabbed them with a knife.
In addition to nine years in prison, he must pay more than 12,000 euros in compensation to the victims.
The first woman was walking when she was suddenly attacked from behind and stabbed in the head.
Jogging woman stabbed in the back
Two months later, the Eindhoven made another victim. He approached a woman who was running on the Marterstraat in Eindhoven and stabbed a knife in her back out of nowhere. He then got on his bicycle and ran. The victim was seriously injured.
The police distributed a photo of the perpetrator, after which the 50-year-old man came into the picture.
Blood spatter with DNA material
A blood spatter with DNA material from the runner was found on the man’s jeans. There is also sufficient evidence for the other case, the court said.
The man was caught on a surveillance camera. The bicycle was also on display. The same bicycle was later found in the shed of the Eindhoven resident.
The man refused to cooperate with a psychiatric examination at the Pieter Baan Center. According to the defense, he should be acquitted in both cases, because he would have nothing to do with this.
