The 23-year-old was the life partner of the child’s mother. The public prosecutor’s office accuses him of suffocating the eight-month-old boy, as the authority announced on Tuesday.
The act took place shortly before Christmas 2019 in the Gemünden am Main area (Main-Spessart district). The 21 year old mother found her son lifeless in his bed on December 20th.
The public prosecutor assumes that the German perceived the child as a disruptive factor and acted for low motives. The man is said to have been violent towards the mother and child in the weeks before the crime.
During the autopsy of the body, forensic doctors discovered evidence of older injuries to the baby’s body. The charges are five cases of assault, abuse of wards and murder.
