Neu-Isenburg (dpa/lhe) – One person died in an accident on Autobahn 3 near Neu-Isenburg (Offenbach district) late on Sunday evening. The person wanted to cross the route after a rear-end collision between the Offenbacher Kreuz and the Frankfurt-Süd exit and was hit by a car and fatally injured, the police said on Monday morning. Due to the force, the person was thrown over the guardrail into the oncoming lane and died. The driver of the car suffered shock.
Another rear-end collision with minor property damage occurred in the backlog, a police spokesman said. The motorway in the direction of Cologne had to be closed for several hours to record the accident and clean up work. On the opposite lane towards Würzburg, only one of the four lanes was passable. The police were initially unable to provide any further details about the people involved, the cause of the accident or the damage caused.
