Man Injured in Stoltzekleiven Rescue Operation and Sent to Haukeland Hospital

On Wednesday morning, a rescue operation was launched in Stoltzekleiven.

A man in his 40s had fallen approximately 20 meters from a ledge, it was reported on X.

The police have coordinated the efforts, and have been in continuous contact with the man by telephone.

– The man has stated that he has broken legs, and says he is in great pain, says operations manager in the police, Frode Kolltveit.

At 1021, the operations manager at X informs that the man has been taken out and sent to Haukeland hospital.

– The extent of the damage is unknown, says Kolltveit to BA.

Demanding action

The man is said to have fallen from the top of Stoltzen, near where the stair trail runs.

– It seems to be serious, said duty commander in 110 West, Dan Inge Gjesdal at the 110 central.

It should not have been challenging for the emergency services to get to the man, but the duty commander stated that it was complicated to get him out of there.

– There are many people on the move, said Gjesdal.

Fire crews from Sandviken and Station Sandviken and the USAR group (urban search and rescue) assisted in the action.

Hikers notified the police

A female hiker is said to have observed the man on a walk, and then lost sight of him, says operations manager Kolltveit.

– She called the police and was worried.

Later, the injured person himself called the police, says Kolltveit.

Cecilie Øversveen from the Central Rescue Center Southern Norway confirmed that the emergency services went out with an air ambulance in connection with the accident.

– We received a message from someone in the area who had seen the person. There is damage to the person, but we have no further information about the damage, she tells BA.

– The emergency services came running

Carl A. Harbitz-Rasmussen walked Stoltzen on Wednesday morning.

– It wasn’t slippery on the actual stones going up, but it was slippery on the wooden stairs, he tells BA.

Sandvikpilen is at the top of Sandviksfjellet. There is a fence around it, but on the rest of the mountain plateau there is no fence.

When Harbitz-Rasmussen got to the top, he saw that there were several people gathered by the arrow.

Directly below there is a cliff, several meters down.

– Then suddenly the emergency services came running, he says.

He was not himself at the scene of the accident.
