Man in underpants tried to ride from the police on a pony

A man in Fredrikstad had a crazy end to the weekend, when he ran very drunk on the tracks in only his underpants, and was almost hit by the train.

When the police got control of the man, he was trying to ride from the place on a pony.

– We received a message at 9.15 about a thinly clad man who ran in the tracks in the direction of Onsøy in Fredrikstad, says operations manager Svein Walle in the Eastern police district.

When the police then contacted the train manager to stop the traffic, they were told that they had already met the man – and that it almost went wrong, when a train was about to run on him.

The police went to find the man, but the panty-clad Sarpsborg man’s journey was not over there.

– While we were on our way, we received several messages from a farm nearby. Then he had first been inside some sheep and the board around. When we arrived he was going to ride a pony, says Walle.

The man in his mid-20s is being arrested for drunkenness, and can wait for a report of disorderly conduct.

– It’s just luck that it has gone well, because the train incident was quite scary. He has probably ingested too much, I think, says the operations manager.
