A man in his 50s has been charged with murder after a dead person was found in Narvik on Wednesday.
In a press release, the police in Nordland state that the deceased is a man in his 60s who is said to have had a relationship with the accused.
The deceased was autopsied on Friday, April 28. The preliminary autopsy report shows that the deceased had injuries from violence. The police will not say anything about the cause of death for the time being, due to the investigation.
On the basis of the investigation, the police received information which led them to arrest a man in his 50s on Friday morning, they write further.
On Saturday 29 April, the man was produced for remand. The police agreed to a four-week detention with a letter and a restraining order, of which two weeks in complete isolation.
The person is charged with grievous bodily harm resulting in death.
The accused does not plead guilty, according to his defender Erling Malm. He tells the newspaper that the accused has consented to imprisonment.
The police in Nordland have put considerable resources into the investigation. Local police receive assistance from Kripos, as well as tactical and technical assistance from various specialist units in Nordland police district.
The police write that they want to get in touch with possible witnesses who have made observations they think may be of importance to the police, in the Oscarsborg/Amfi Bolagsgata area in the time period Saturday, April 15 from 12:30 and following days.
