Man in His 30s Shot in Västerås – Police Yet to Make Arrests

Police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin confirmed on Monday evening The Express that a person had been shot.

Later, the press spokesman told TT that it was a man in his 30s. He was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries, the police said.

By midnight, no one had been arrested for the shooting.

According to Västerås Newspaper there were between 25 and 30 people inside the Pitcher’s pub where the shooting took place.

According to eyewitnesses the newspaper has spoken to, five shots were heard, and the guests in the pub ran out into the street in panic.

The police cordoned off both Pitcher’s and several other pubs located at a square in Västerås.

At 10.13 p.m., just over an hour after the shooting, the police received a report of another shooting incident, this time on the outskirts of the city, this time in the Erikslund business district.

– We have not found anyone injured or any suspects, but have secured evidence that indicates that a shootout has taken place, says Jansson Klarin.

It was unclear until Tuesday night whether there is a connection between the two shooting incidents in the city.

Västerås is just over 100 kilometers north-west of Stockholm.
