Man in his 20s found dead after forest party

On Sunday, the police launched a major search operation after a man in his 20s did not return home after a party in Grimstad on Sunday night.

– The police were notified of the incident at 18.40 on Sunday night. Then there were some in his close circle of friends who reported him missing, says operations manager in the Agder police district, Miriam Stausland, to Dagbladet.

Just after 9.30 pm, the police report that a dead person has been found in the search area. Relatives have been notified, the police inform on Twitter.

– The deceased has not been identified yet, but no one else has been reported missing in the area, so we assume that it is the man in his 20s who has been found, Stausland says.

The man was found by the police dog patrol. Forensic scientists conduct routine investigations on the spot Sunday night, according to Agderposten.

The police have launched an investigation into the case to map the course of events and cause of death.

The party in question took place in a forest area north of Reddal on Saturday night.

– The party has been out in the terrain, some distance from the road and buildings. It is in this area that we have applied with great resources, says the operations manager.

It is not yet known what kind of party it is or how many people were present.

There is rough terrain in the area, which has made the search process challenging. Several police patrols, police dogs, helicopters and volunteers contributed to the search for the man.
