Man in Grenoble attacks former mother-in-law, abducts son, and apprehended in Switzerland

A man is suspected of having tried to kill his ex-mother-in-law and his ex-brother-in-law on Saturday to recover his nine-year-old son from whom they had custody. Three members of his family are also implicated.

Suspected of having injured two people this weekend and of having kidnapped his son, a man was arrested on Tuesday in Switzerland, BFMTV.com learned from the Grenoble prosecutor’s office.

The facts took place last Saturday when this man accompanied by his parents entered an apartment in Grenoble. This apartment is the one occupied by the suspect’s former in-laws. Separated from the mother of his son, a refugee in a center for women victims of domestic violence, he would have attacked his former brother-in-law, seriously injuring him by bullet in the neck, according to The Liberated Dauphine.

A judicial investigation was opened on Sunday by the Grenoble prosecutor’s office for “attempted assassination” and “kidnapping”. The investigating judge then issued international arrest warrants targeting the father and the paternal grandparents.

They were arrested in the town of Saint-Gall, near Lake Constance, more than 500 kilometers from Grenoble. The child was also found safe and sound.
