A 45-year-old man was critically injured after a fire started on Friday afternoon in his home in the Beukenhofstraat in Merksem. The local police of Antwerp reports this.

The fire raged on the first floor of a single-family house in Merksem. The fire started at a seat where some electronic devices were charging, on top of a pile of clothing.
One of the residents, a 45-year-old man, was taken to Stuivenberg Hospital for care after inhaling a lot of smoke. He was in mortal danger.
