The brutal attack came after the couple reportedly got into a fight when they accidentally hit a pedestrian while riding a scooter in the city of Shuozhou.
In the video recording, the man is seen hitting his wife with a wooden bench before beating her with stones.
The assailant was quickly detained by local police who later confirmed that the woman had died from her injuries.

Images of the attack first appeared on social media and in local media on Sunday and have been shared millions of times.
In the video footage, cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians, including children, are seen witnessing the attack but none intervened to help the defenseless victim.
Posting-an about the incident drew tens of thousands of comments from around the world, with most criticizing the inaction of the audience at the scene.
“He’s not holding a machine gun, why isn’t anyone stepping forward to control him ?,” said one social media user who watched the violent video.
“(They) just saw it happen. What a cold-blooded and selfish group of people !, “criticized another social media user.
“At least 4 people were standing around as this man beat his wife. Many people watched and recorded, but no one stopped it,” wrote one social media user in the comments. posting-an video.

China only introduced a special law criminalizing domestic violence in 2015, but activists say family violence is often ignored.
At the time the law was passed, the state-run All China Women’s Federation estimated about one in four women experienced violence during their marriage.
The anger sparked by the attack is reminiscent of an incident in 2011, also captured on video, when a toddler in the city of Foshan was hit by a vehicle twice and ignored by dozens of passers-by.
