A 66-year-old Australian man has died after his leg was sawed off with a circular saw by another person yesterday. Sawing off the leg would have happened after a mutual agreement. The two knew each other, police said.
The incident took place yesterday morning in a park in Innisfail, a town in the northeastern province of Queensland. The suspected perpetrator is a 36-year-old man, he was arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of murder.
The officer investigating the case says he has “never experienced a situation like this” in his 34 years as a detective.
Able to do
According to the police, the two drove to the park together around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning. About twenty minutes later, the 36-year-old man sawed off the other’s leg just below the knee. The man then brought the victim back to the car, before leaving on foot.
The victim was found about 20 minutes later by passers-by. He was still alive at the time, but died before emergency services arrived.
The police are trying to find out what the exact relationship was between the two men and why they apparently agreed to cut off a leg. The saw belonged to the victim.
The 36-year-old suspect will appear in court tomorrow.
