Man hit by train in Upper Austria and seriously injured

A 21-year-old from the Linz-Land district was hit by a train in Schwertberg (Perg district) and seriously injured on Sunday evening. According to the state police department of Upper Austria, he fell around 6.45 p.m. while trying to cross the tracks directly in front of the Schwertberg train station and was trapped under an approaching train and seriously injured in his left foot. After initial treatment by the emergency team, he was admitted to the Linz accident hospital.

According to the police, the man was with a 15-year-old friend in Schwertberg. In the evening the two set off on foot towards the train station. In the area of ​​Mühlenweg, directly in front of the station area, they tried to cross the tracks. They climbed over a bridge railing, climbed an embankment and the 15-year-old crossed the rails. The 21-year-old also tried to run over the rails in front of the approaching train, but fell and was hit by the train. After the accident, the Donauuferbahn was closed for about an hour.
