In Upper Palatinate, a 20-year-old man alerted the police out of fear of losing his girlfriend. To do so, he told the officers a lie.
Urensollen – A 20-year-old man in Upper Palatinate has triggered a manhunt for his girlfriend after telling the police a made-up story. After an argument, the 18-year-old girlfriend drove the man from Ursensollen (Amberg-Sulzbach) away. The man then called the emergency services and claimed that he had been beaten up and that his car had been stolen. According to the police, this led to a large-scale manhunt.

The lie had far-reaching consequences: patrol cars and a helicopter were involved in the operation, and police forces in Middle Franconia and the Czech Republic were also informed about the case. The car was eventually found about four kilometers away. Nearby they also discovered the 18-year-old, trapped between the wheels of a construction vehicle. How this happened to her was unclear.
