The police confirm to NRK that the relatives have been notified.
The accident was first reported at 16.05 on Sunday. Just before 6.30 pm, the police confirm that the man is dead.
He is said to have been alone when he crashed into a tree, but witnesses who came driving behind him saw the incident.
– We have talked to them, but we can not go into detail, says Kirsten Bergstrøm in the police to NRK.
The man, who is in his late 40s, lives in Trøndelag.
A local doctor is said to have been on the scene shortly after the accident occurred, and life-saving first aid was started.
All emergency services moved out, and an air ambulance was in place after a short time, the police confirm.
