Man from Tzum Sentenced for Assault in Disabled Parking Space Dispute

A 43-year-old man from Tzum has been sentenced to 40 hours of community service for assault. The man saw that someone had wrongly parked in a disabled parking space at the Jumbo in Harlingen.

The suspect wanted to confront the driver with his antisocial behavior. The idea was good, but the judge was less pleased with the execution. According to the judge, it would have been better if the man from Tzum had limited himself to a reprimand and a photo for the police.

But the suspect grabbed the driver and pulled him out of the car. Then a struggle ensued. He found a punishment

The suspect’s lawyer did not think it was right that the opposing party did not have to appear. He thought a suspended sentence was enough for his client.

The judge did not agree with that. He imposed the same sentence as the public prosecutor’s demand: 40 hours of community service and a suspended prison sentence of two weeks.
