Man from quarantine French Guiana escaped and entered Suriname

A 52-year-old man, who was quarantined in French Guiana, escaped this week and then entered Suriname. The Region East Criminal Investigation Department brought him into the picture yesterday after intensive research and had it arrested, reports the Suriname Police Force on Sunday.

The man, James A., was found on Saturday April 11 at a residential address in Siparipabo in the Commewijne district. The Surinamese police then called in the NCCR and the BOG COVID-19 Team, after which they called at the home address.

James and all other housemates were then taken under police escort to a quarantine site for examination. Meanwhile, it is known that James A. is not infected with the corona COVID-19 virus, reports the Surinamese police.

The police are investigating, in collaboration with the security services here in the country, how James A. Suriname entered.
