Man from Offenbach spends 15 questionable days of quarantine

A 25-year-old Offenbacher has problems with the city health department: he has to stay in quarantine for 15 days, although he tested negative.

A young Offenbach cook is in quarantine for 15 days, even though a PCR test was negative and he has no Covid-19 symptoms. For his flatmate suffering from Corona, the quarantine ends after a week. What went wrong? The Offenbach health department explains the delay as follows: The test center of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV) on the large car park on the Main is unfortunately only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Yesterday, Tuesday, the 15th day of quarantine, the Offenbacher, who had already been vaccinated, was finally able to do a second PCR test in the morning. After all, the result came quickly: in the early evening he heard that he was negative.

On July 18, he was in contact with the roommate who was infected with Corona. “We talked for a few minutes in one room,” says the 25-year-old. On July 19, the roommate first took a quick test, which came back positive, and then a PCR test. Two days later he received the positive result.

The 25-year-old cook was then contacted by phone on July 21 by the Offenbach City Health Office, which issued a 14-day quarantine. The end of which was set for August 2, it said yesterday in response to a FR request from the health department. The Offenbacher missed two test dates on July 22nd and 23rd. To end the quarantine, however, a negative PCR test is mandatory, which was only carried out on Tuesday yesterday.

The young man describes the case differently: The employee of the health department told him by telephone that his PCR test would be carried out on July 23 and that he would also receive an email. When no e-mail had arrived, he checked with the office. So on July 23rd – a Friday, mind you – he came to a PCR test in the test center on the Main. He received the negative result by SMS on the same evening.

On July 26th, his roommate’s second PCR test was negative. “I thought if I did a test quickly, I would get out of quarantine quickly,” says the 25-year-old. But the clerk told him on the phone that a second PCR test would only be possible on August 3rd, “because they don’t test as much on the banks of the Main”. A test can also be carried out at the family doctor, but it would take even longer.

Incidentally, the roommate stated that the clerk had only sent him the promised e-mail for the test date when he was asked.
