A man from Ering (Rottal-Inn district) has become the victim of a drastic online false report on Facebook regarding a sexual offense. He reported the incident to the Simbach police on Tuesday.
According to police, he said that his photo was shared on Facebook on Monday with a false message. It claimed that the man had committed an exhibitionistic act in front of a child. The local police and public prosecutor’s office have also begun investigations. However, the police say the facts are completely false. The man was wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit.
Police investigate the author of the posting
The police have now actually started an investigation into the people who spread this false information. In this context, the Simbach police department warns against spreading reports from unverified sources without thoroughly checking them. This is especially true if these posts contain photos of real people. Such acts will be prosecuted.
