A 24-year-old man from Eindhoven has been jailed for six months for raping a woman during carnival last year. The court in Den Bosch ruled this on Friday. The man went way too far with a young woman whom he had met shortly before in front of a café on Stratumseind in Eindhoven.
Initially, the young woman was very interested in the man. She saw him outside a cafe and spoke to him. One thing led to another on that cheerful carnival evening and the two decided to find a quiet spot behind the cafes to have sex there. Going home with the man was a bit too much for the woman.
The sex went well for a while, until the man switched to anal sex. The woman later told police that she screamed in pain, but the man did not stop until he came.
Woman cried out
Two weeks ago, during the hearing, the readings differed greatly. The man denied that he had had anal sex, the woman stated that she screamed and said she was ‘fucked to pieces’.
Her friends heard her story and decided to call the police. He came and picked the man up. At the office on Mathildelaan the woman told her whole story. Both were examined and it turned out that there was indeed semen from the man around and in the woman’s anus.

But the man, who is originally from Eritrea, insisted that he had only had sex with her ‘in the usual way’. His religion does not even allow him to have anal sex or, for example, sex with a man, he stated.
Justice had demanded a year and a half in prison two weeks ago. The court found six months’ imprisonment was sufficient. The man was also given a conditional sentence of six months. He will have to serve that sentence if he makes another mistake within two years.
