The man, a caver (one who studies caves), was trapped around 1 p.m. Saturday. It is not clear how he fell. He suffered multiple injuries from the fall.
250 rescue workers
Then it went fast. Nearly 250 rescuers from Wales and England traveled to the cave in South Wales called Ogof Ffynnon Ddu to get the man out.

During the day, teams of thirty men left for the cave to relieve their colleagues. Some had been underground for twelve hours.

When we finally managed to get the man upstairs, he was received with loud cheers. He was then immediately taken to hospital by ambulance. According to a spokesperson for the rescue team, the man is doing well under the circumstances. “He’s out of danger.”

The spokesperson also says that he is ‘happy’ with the success of the operation. “It was a very difficult rescue, but it worked. We are also proud of the victim, given what happened. The most important thing now is that he gets the right care.”
Thailand rescue
A number of speleologists who assisted were also at the rescue in Northern Thailand in 2018. A Thai football team and their coach were rescued from the Tham Luang cave after 17 days.
