A man was discovered shot dead on Wednesday shortly before 10 p.m. on a track in the town of Venzolasca (Haute-Corse).
The emergency services discovered this man in cardio-respiratory arrest, according to Arnaud Viornery, the public prosecutor of Bastia, who went there.
“The person was visibly dead when the emergency services were called”, added the prosecutor without further details on the identity or the possible judicial past of this man.
A burnt out vehicle
The victim is said to be a contractor specializing in the earthworks of the village, in his forties.
At 10:40 p.m., a vehicle was found burned in Canale di Verde, 40 km south of Venzolasca, without it being known for the time being whether there is a link between the two events, also indicated the magistrate.
An investigation was opened for intentional homicide by the public prosecutor’s office which entrusted it in co-referral to the research section of the gendarmerie of Corsica and to the research brigade of Bastia.
