It reports Swedish GP.

At 19.21 on Friday night, the police were alerted to a dead person in the water near the old Svinesund bridge between Norway and Sweden.

Anders Wennergren from the Swedish police states that they have identified the body as a Norwegian man. He has now been picked up and driven by a funeral home.

The man, who has probably been in the water for some time, was found on the Swedish side.

– But the assessment is that the body has moved from Norway to Sweden. How to know that, or why we make that assessment, I can not answer, says press contact Christer Fuxborg in Swedish police to the newspaper.

The police so far have no idea about the cause of death.

Eastern police district informs VG that it is Swedish police who handle the case.

The person’s ID is not verified.

– We know nothing yet. Nothing has been confirmed in this case. There are no missing persons as of now that we know of.

– Is there a suspicion that there is something criminal behind it?

– Not as far as we know, says operations manager Ronny Samuelsen.

Fuxborg tells VG that a passer-by saw a person floating in the water and contacted the police.

– We now have both Swedish and Norwegian police and rescue services on site. We have now started an investigation to identify who the person is.

He says that the conditions indicate that the body has been in the water for a while and that this is not something that has happened recently.
