It is a very strange story that is currently occupying the authorities of Houston (Texas). On Thursday morning, passers-by alerted the police after discovering an unconscious man outside a church in the city. The 25-year-old individual was carrying an object indicating the identity of a member of his family, which allowed the officers to understand that they were dealing with a young man who went missing in 2015. Rudy Farias was 17 years old when his mother reported him missing, explaining that he had never returned from a walk with his dogs.
Last weekend, the young man’s mother released a statement via the Texas Center for Disappearances. “My son Rudy is getting the care he needs to overcome his trauma. But at the moment he does not speak and is not able to communicate with us. We ask that you respect his privacy during this difficult time. According to the Houston Fire Chief, Rudy refused to get into the ambulance and authorities left him in the care of his family.

During an interview, Rudy’s mother claimed to have taken him to the hospital. She thinks her son has been abducted, beaten and assaulted all these years. All this story has to say the least taken aback the neighbors of the Farias family, says ABC 7. And for good reason, several local residents claim that they were not aware that the young man was missing. They also assure that the young man has never left the neighborhood. “He would come to my garage, hang out with my cousin, my son and my daughter. This boy has never disappeared”, insists Kisha Ross.
Words confirmed by Broderick Conley, the cousin of the latter. “We laughed, we had a good time. Sometimes he went to the park alone,” he testifies. Kisha and Broderick explain that Rudy used to come to their house regularly but that they hadn’t seen him for a few weeks. Another witness wishing to remain anonymous claims to have seen Rudy living with his mother for several years. “I was shocked that someone went missing but was seen,” he said.
Questioned by journalists, the mother of the young man refused to appear in front of the camera. But she assures that the man who would have spent all this time with the neighbors is in fact her nephew. An assertion that those concerned strongly deny. While waiting for the investigators to talk to Rudy, his neighbors try to understand why the young man’s mother would have invented this story of disappearance. “I don’t know. I spent the day trying to figure it out. I’m lost here. What is happening?” Kisha wonders.
