On Sunday night, the police pursued a 38-year-old in his car on the A8 who attempted a life-threatening escape. At times he drove against the direction of travel.
Weyarn – A federal police officer who was traveling privately towards Salzburg noticed the car around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (November 24th). The front of the vehicle was badly dented and metal parts were dragging on the road, causing sparks. It was also noticed that the driver drove in serpentine lines and significantly exceeded the permitted speed limit. The driver was speeding down the Irschenberg. The Holzkirchen motorway police gave chase.

Police can catch the chaos driver at Bad Aibling – he is totally drunk
In the Bad Aibling area, two police patrols managed to divert the car from the motorway and control it. During the check it turned out that the driver, a 38-year-old Brazilian, had an alcohol level of over one per mille. He was then taken to the police station, where a doctor took his blood.
The driver apparently hit several traffic signs near Weyarn while drunk and fled
The investigations revealed that the Brazilian had collided with several traffic signs in the area of the Weyarn junction while drunk. Despite the collision, he continued his journey towards Salzburg at high speed. It was even reported that he made a U-turn on the highway and drove a short distance in the opposite direction.
Criminal proceedings were initiated against the Brazilian for endangering road traffic and leaving the scene of an accident without permission. He had to give up his driver’s license immediately and is now no longer allowed to drive a motor vehicle for an indefinite period of time.
A blessing in disguise: there was little traffic due to the late hour
Fortunately, there was little traffic on the highway at this late hour and no other road user was harmed by the Brazilian’s reckless behavior. The damage to your own car is estimated at around 15,000 euros. In addition, the federal Autobahn GmbH suffered damage of around 1,000 euros due to the destroyed traffic signs.
Meanwhile, a new traffic sign is causing trouble among drivers in Middle Franconia.
