Man Fatally Stabbed Outside Bronx Apartment Complex

NEW YORK — A man was fatally stabbed outside his Bronx apartment complex Tuesday night, according to New York City Police.

The incident took place in front of a building located in the 125 228th Streetaround 6 pm, in the sector Marble Hill from The Bronx.

The victim was identified as Juan Martinez, 44, who was in front of the building with his mother and 5-year-old niece. Martinez was found at the scene by officers, with several stab wounds throughout his body.

“I have no words to define a senseless crime,” said Elena Tejada, the victim’s aunt.

On Wednesday, Martinez’s family gathered at his apartment to mourn the loss of their loved one.

“It was an injustice, they killed my son in front of his mother and my granddaughter,” said George Laboy, the victim’s father. “No mother has to see something like that, not even my 5-year-old granddaughter. That girl is traumatized.”

Martinez was then taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

At this time this investigation remains active and no arrests have been reported.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their suggestions by logging into the website. Crime Stoppers and on Twitter @NYPDTips.
