Man falls into Hudson River from Midtown: New York water and air distress rescue

A 29-year-old man was miraculously rescued and hospitalized in critical condition after falling into the Hudson River yesterday in broad daylight in Midtown Manhattan (NYC).

The NYPD said that they have received a report of a man who jumped into the river around 4:30 pm Thursday in the area. between the 30th West St heliport and Pier 76.

At the sight they saw at least three boats and a helicopter responding. Emergency personnel finally pulled the victim out after a dramatic rescue at West 36th St and West Side Highway, across from the The Javits Centerreported W42st.com. More than a dozen FDNY and NYPD responders gathered at the water’s edge to get the man to dry land.

Divers pulled the man from the water and transported him in critical condition to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where this morning he was still in critical condition. The investigation was still open about the cause of the fall into the river. The victim was not identified.

Not all cases have a happy ending. In April this year a man was found floating dead on the Hudson River in New York, near Pier 66 in Manhattan.

In September 2022 a A series of bad luck led to the death of young Paul Montenero (29) when he fell off a bridge in Orange County, New York after his car broke down.
