A man in his thirties was evacuated in relative emergency to the Montluçon hospital center (Allier), this Saturday, November 18, after inhaling smoke following the fire in his social housing in Cosne-d’ Allier.
The alert given by the neighbor
The fire started around 12:30 p.m., in a house located at 23, residence of Druille, not far from Petit-Bois park. The alert was given by the nearest neighbor, worried to see smoke coming out of the roof.
The neighbor’s daughter brought the young man to safety who, despite the flames, did not want to leave the house without having retrieved his cat. The animal will finally be sheltered by the neighbor.

An opening in the roof to evacuate smoke
Arriving on site, firefighters first put out the flames before making an opening in the roof to allow the smoke to escape. In the afternoon, they cleared the rooms to prevent a new fire.
Twenty-two firefighters and eight vehicles were mobilized for this operation. They come from the rescue centers of Bourbon-l’Archambault, Buxières-les-Mines, Cérilly, Cosne-d’Allier, Doyet and Villefranche-d’Allier.
According to the first elements collected on site, the young man fell asleep and accidentally started the fire with a cigarette.
