A history of the world through gastronomy: this is the ambition of a book which has just been published, a fascinating illustrated album signed by the designer Jul and the culinary critic Aïtor Alfonso, professor of literature and screenwriter, aka “Sauce gribiche” on social networks. “Aïtor suggested that I tell the history of the world through this prism of the plate”says Jul. “He said to me ‘do you know what we ate at Woodstock during the festival?’ or ‘do you know what the Romans ate in Pompeii before the volcano erupted?’ And that thing ultimately triggered this book which is a walk through time from Lascaux to the International Space Station.”
