Man drowns autistic sons for life insurance money in Los Angeles

In California, a man has been sentenced to 212 years in prison for drowning his two autistic sons to collect life insurance. A federal judge in Los Angeles on Thursday imposed the maximum sentence on 45-year-old Ali Elmezayen. The convict is a “greedy and brutal killer.” The father of the family hatched a “vicious and diabolical plan” to get money.

According to the indictment, Elmezayen deliberately drove his car into the water in the port of Los Angeles in April 2015. He himself could get to safety through the open window of his car. His belted, severely disabled sons, aged eight and 13, drowned.

Elmezayen’s ex-wife, who was also in the car, was able to break free. The non-swimmer only survived because a fisherman threw her a buoy.

According to the indictment, the man bought life insurance for himself and his family from eight insurance companies between July 2012 and March 2013. The total value was three million dollars. According to the indictment, he then waited until a two-year minimum period for all insurance companies had expired.

He raked in more than $ 260,000 after the death of his children. He used the money to buy real estate in Egypt, his country of origin, and to buy a boat. Elmezayen was finally arrested in November 2018. He has been in custody ever since.
