The man in his sixties showed up around 7:30 p.m. at the Rennes police station. After checking their files, the police discovered that the vulnerable and disturbed individual was the subject of a search issued by his family. His hospitalization was requested by the doctor who was able to see him.
Taken care of at the police station by a private ambulance, it was during his transport to a specialized hospital that the man threw himself into the water, around 9:30 p.m., when the vehicle stopped, in the city center. A police patrol which was nearby quickly intervened on the scene, indicates the police station. Two police officers got into the water to try in vain to find the man who disappeared while swimming below the Vilaine car park.
Research interrupted tonight
Immediately called, the firefighters had sent divers and numerous search resources to the scene, under the dumbfounded gaze of passers-by. This Saturday morning, the man had still not been found, according to the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service. The search was interrupted with nightfall. New investigations have been underway since 6 p.m. At the request of the police, the firefighters are again at the scene of the disappearance to widen their field of research in the area where the stream passes under the Vilaine car park in the city center.
