NEW YORK — A man was stabbed to death at a Chinatown social club after an argument over a game, police said.
The two men were playing the club near Division and Orchard streets shortly after 4:30 pm Monday when they began arguing.
One of the men was escorted out of the social club and went to a nearby restaurant supply store to purchase several knives. Police say he returned to the social club and stabbed the 58-year-old man five times, leaving a large knife in his stomach.
Police received multiple 911 calls about the incident. However, by the time they arrived at the scene, the suspect, also believed to be in his 50s, had already fled the area. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made and police are searching for the suspect.
Several neighbors in the area told News 4 it’s generally a quiet neighborhood, but one man told us it’s not the first time police have been called to the business.
“Something happened in that place half a year ago or something… But this is a pretty safe neighborhood,” he told News 4.
On Tuesday, the area surrounding the social club was still cordoned off as the investigation continues.
