A man has died after falling from the Tate Modern museum in London.
It is not known where the man fell and how that happened. His identity has also not been revealed. The accident happened in the morning. “His death is considered unexpected at this time, but there are no suspicious circumstances,” police said.
After the fall, an air ambulance was called in. Despite rescue efforts by emergency services, the man died on the spot. The famous museum has a panoramic terrace on the tenth floor. It has not yet been announced whether that is also the place from which the man fell.
Museum remains closed
In 2019, a child was thrown from the panoramic terrace. The child was seriously injured and is still recovering. The perpetrator, a teenager, was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison in 2020.
The museum will remain closed for the rest of the day. A visit to the museum is free, but temporary exhibitions do require payment. Visitors who had booked tickets for these exhibitions are being contacted, reports the museum.
The Tate Modern is one of the most famous museums of modern art in the world. Every year, 3 million visitors come to see works by Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalí, Marcel Duchamp, Mark Rothko and Pablo Picasso, among others.
