A subway passenger has died after his foot got caught in the gap between the train car he was exiting from and the platform, the MTA reported.
“We do not believe this is an incident at the gate,” said NYC Transit President Richard Davey. “We think he was trapped between the platform and the train.”
The NYPD had originally said the passenger had been trapped by his clothing as the door closed.
The victim was identified as Marcus Bryant, 37, who was exiting a Q Line subway car in Brooklyn just before midnight Wednesday.
After becoming trapped in the gap between the train and the platform, Bryant fell onto the train tracks and was struck minutes later by another train arriving at the station.
The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition and where he died.
